As a general rule, presentation matters.

Repeat after me:

If you’re going to show it off, make sure it’s on point. If it’s not on point, don’t show it off.

That goes for anything you feel like displaying.

Most of you seem to understand this concept…to some degree. However, let us all review some common offenses.

1. Feet: If you are going to wear flip flops, sandals, or open toed shoes, make sure your feet are maintained properly. If you look down to see chipped nail polish, callouses, dry skin, funky hair, or something else that just isn’t right, do yourself and everyone around you a favor, and opt for some sneakers.

Treat this as a rule. Clean it up…

If you’re going to show it off, make sure it’s on point. If it’s not on point, don’t show it off.

It couldn’t be simpler.

2. Midsection: Listen, this isn’t a fashion blog. It’s written by heterosexual men, who welcome your advice when it comes to trends/styles etc. But we don’t need a fashion pedigree to tell you some of this stuff. This is more basic than fashion, this is about common decency. So as I was saying, midsection…as a simple rule, you probably shouldn’t wear a top that bares your midriff (including those that only reveal your stomach when you reach your arms up) at any place other than the pool, the beach, or the Max from Saved By the Bell. That said, if you’re going to do it, make sure you have the stomach for it. Ripped up abs aren’t required, but some semblance of fitness or health would be nice. Anything above the belt should stay above the belt, or otherwise remain out of public sight. That is also a rule…

Again, if you’re going to show it off, make sure it’s on point. If it’s not on point, don’t show it off.

3. Legs: Ladies…your legs are awesome. What makes them awesome is that they are long, and smooth, and feminine. If you’re considering shorts, or Capri pants, or even long pants that you might be thinking of taking off later, please, keep it smooth. If there’s a high probability that you’ll come in contact with the sun, or with someone you might want to touch you, take the three extra minutes in the shower and shape up. This is a total double standard, as male stubble (facial hair I’m talking here) is pretty common, acceptable, and sometimes desirable. Female stubble has no friends.

Again, if you’re going to show it off, make sure it’s on point. If it’s not on point, don’t show it off.
